Background to Stories of Faith
by Sandie Keetch
There is nothing that makes a reporter’s heart race more than when he
hits the trail of a good story - even if it takes him across the world.
There’s an adrenalin release, a heightened nose for
news and a passion to let others share his knowledge and delight.
Having worked for newspapers in London and Essex, I’ve seen, heard and
written about a whole gamut of stories. But none compare with the epic
tales that unfold in the Stories of Faith website. They have been a
privilege to unearth and write - and I would do the Lord, who inspired
them all, a great injustice if I kept them to myself.
For I have come to know that many of the best stories
today concern men and women of faith. Some have trudged the
valleys of despair and suffering before finding new purpose and rhythm
to their lives. Others testify to sheer grit and determination as the
winning ingredients for transformation. Many are willing to sacrifice
their own lives, amid hardship and danger, to help others.
"...these stories leave an
indelible print on the soul to challenge, encourage, inspire
and purpose
you in a unique way." |

These Christians are largely unsung heroes - humble,
unassuming folk that shy away from the limelight. But all of them have
one thing in common. They pulsate with a heart of zeal and fire
that’s been inflamed by the Holy Spirit. A heart that is the well-spring
of life for the living, loving God who gave them grace to find his call.
It’s a call that has made them complete and has released a joy and
courage – an indeterminate faith - to reach nothing less than their
Saviour’s best for them as they touch and embrace humanity. In essence
it is an empowering partnership between God and man that is tailored for
abundant living and one that is within everyone’s grasp.
As you read I believe, like me, you won’t be the same
again. For these stories leave an indelible print on the soul to
challenge, encourage, inspire and purpose you in a unique way. But
that’s the hallmark of a good story; it leaves its mark. And all these
stories are good for the soul because they are essentially praiseworthy.
So dip into this golden inkwell - and let the God of
all creation write his personal, living, breathing message to you
through the extraordinary lives of His people and the invincible power
of his spirit. Start reading and you will find a veritable treasure
chest full of the choicest of gems that are beyond price and are yours
for the taking. |
